ISLE OF ARRAN

An isle never explored before! A grey overcast morning as we left the farm and drove to Ardrossan and the ferry to Brodick with calm waters but a grey, Misty arrival. We explored Brodick and then drove south to Lamlash. Our pitch tonight is overlooking Holy Island on the outskirts of the village, it’s doing more than Scotch mist! We appear sheltered though from the predicted high winds. We walked into the village, had a cuppa and chatted to a lovely couple on a weekend away from Glasgow. (Glasgow have a long weekend Friday & Monday).

A mixture of sunshine and showers today but quite cool too. We spent the majority of the day at Brodick Castle and gardens.

Busy day yesterday with a long walk along Blackwaterfoot beach, over the boulders to Kings Cave, (Robert the Bruce) seeing the dinosaur handprint admiring the fort and the stunning scenery. Up through the forest, expecting to walk back via the road I said to John wouldn’t it be nice if we could get a bus! No bus until mid afternoon, but then my prayers answered a bus stopped by the entrance to the car park, I ran, driver said get on, I’m waiting for the other coming the other way only place to cross! Just amazing. We then drove to Lagg to a whiskey distillery, didn’t stop, way too expensive for a tour, no wonder carpark was empty!
