New Lanark

New Lanark is a former 18th century cotton spinning mill village located on the banks of the Falls of Clyde, it has a resident village community of 65 households, set within a National Nature Reserve.  In the village is a Visitor Centre together with mill experiences & houses, John was upset the sweet shop wasn’t open!  There is also the New Lanark Mill Hotel, Wee Row Hostel, Mill Shop and Cafe, together with traditionally produced organic wool, all from hydro-electricity.

We spent over 3 hours exploring, I purchased a dress in the gift shop  at a bargain price all before lunch.

This afternoon we headed up the Falls of Clyde path.  A stunning walk in T-shirts!

As an OAP entrance was £11, which we think is very reasonable, John said he would Gift Aid and was given a year’s free pass.  It’s definitely somewhere we would recommend.   We are spending tonight once again in the secure, quiet carpark.
